James is a passionate, resourceful, and creative film and video producer, director, and editor with over 10 years of experience managing all aspects of video production, developing revenue-driving video content, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to produce videos that inform, inspire, and delight… all with a sense of humor.
He has worked as both a freelance and in-house video producer making and managing video content for businesses and non-profits in the higher education, career and technical education, publishing, and technology spaces.
His 2021 short film Scenes Before the End of the World was awarded Best Comedy Short at the Vancouver Independent Film Festival, won the Outstanding Achievement Award (Comedy Short) at IndieX Film Fest in Los Angeles, CA, and was a finalist for Best Comedy Short at Indie Short Fest.
In his spare time, he performs and produces sketch and improv comedy in the Chicago area. He has trained and performed with the improv and sketch comedy communities in San Jose, CA, Seattle, WA (The Pocket Theater), and Chicago, IL (Annoyance Theater, The Second City Training Center, Bughouse Theater). He co-produces People Presenting Things, a monthly improvised slideshow show where improvisers present PowerPoints they’ve never seen before. The show currently runs in Dallas, New York, and Chicago.
James holds a B.A. in Film Studies and Creative Writing from Seattle University and a certificate in Film Production-Directing from The Film and TV School of the Academy of Performing Arts in Prague (FAMU) in Prague, CZ
